Guidance from Graduation to Adulthood

Every high school graduate needs a plan. Too often, young adults with disabilities are not asked or supported to follow through with future plans. As a result, by the age of 24, 60% of young adults in Allegheny County are neither in school or working. We can do better. With the right tools and training, students with disabilities can learn skills to navigate the complex system of employment, housing and support needs for their adult lives. No one deserves to ‘graduate to the couch’ and the right plan and supports can get young adults with disabilities exactly what they need to be independent, or as independent as possible. $1,000 will help 8 young adults to prepare for their future after graduation.
